trouble installing CD-ROM
I thought I could install a cd rom so my son could play games but when I installed the cd rom and tried to install the driver from the floppy disk that was provided ahhhhh there was no floppy disk drive in the machine!!!!! doh, I should have looked before I installed...soooo now is there a way to install drivers

3) Installing the CD rom under an OEM Win95b using the real mode driver to get it going. Win95 replaces the real mode driver with the correct protected mode driver and it works fine. This all said, I want to run this machine with Win98 AND be able to reinstall Win98 more or less normally if possible.

Best IDE config: two HD's + CD-RW + DVD-ROM
Check jumper settings on the CD ROM - should be set to MASter assuming its the only drive in the machine. See if you can put the CD ROM in another machine to test if it installs OK, that will prove if the CD ROM is OK or not. It is IMHO unlikely to be a Software Problem. Cables and master/slave settings are OK

I tried fiddling, installing the hdd on ide1 and installing the cdrom on ide2 both set to master. However the machine does not recognise the cd-rom. I am running win 95, i run add to hardware wizard and i doesn't pick it up. I've tried installing the driver prior to enter win95 however an error comes up saying

And the CD drive..? This machine is not exotic. It's a relatively new eMachines T6520, straight out of the box. Please don't laugh at eMachines. Why should I get this message when Linux is actually installing from the CD ROM? Of course there's a CD ROM!! Guess who's going to either cough up for a proper CD

I have always had both my HD's on Primary and never had a problem, my CD-ROM has always been master on Secondary. When I got my RW the install instructions from TEAC said if installing with a CD-ROM in the same machine to have the CD-ROM as secondary master and RW drive as secondary slave.
